Choosing the right shampoo

Selecting the right shampoo between Pureology and Kérastase depends on your specific hair type, concerns, and preferences. Both brands offer high-quality products, but they may cater to different needs. Here’s a comparison to help you decide:

Pureology:

  1. Vegan and Sulfate-Free: Pureology is known for its sulfate-free, vegan formulas that are gentle on the hair and ideal for color-treated hair. If you have colored or chemically treated hair, Pureology is a strong choice.
  2. Colour Protection: Pureology specializes in colour protection and offers a range of shampoos, conditioners, and treatments designed to preserve and enhance the vibrancy of dyed hair.
  3. Hydration and Repair: They also offer options for hydrating and repairing damaged hair, making it suitable for various hair concerns beyond color.

Kérastase:

  1. Customized Solutions: Kérastase provides a wide range of products, allowing for a more personalized approach to hair care. Their products are often categorized based on specific hair types and concerns, such as dryness, frizz, or thinning hair.
  2. Luxury and Elegance: Kérastase is known for its luxurious and elegant formulations, making it a preferred choice for those seeking a high-end, salon-quality experience.
  3. Innovative Ingredients: Kérastase often incorporates innovative ingredients and technologies into their products to address a variety of hair issues, from strengthening to smoothing.

To make an informed choice, consider the following steps:

  1. Assess Your Hair Type: Determine your hair type (e.g., fine, coarse, curly) and any specific concerns you have (e.g., color protection, frizz control, moisture).
  2. Read Product Labels: Look at the product labels and descriptions to find a Pureology or Kérastase shampoo that matches your hair type and concerns.
  3. Consult a Professional: If you’re unsure which product is best for your hair, consider consulting a hairstylist or salon professional who can provide personalized recommendations based on your hair’s unique needs.
  4. Trial and Error: Sometimes, finding the perfect shampoo may involve some trial and error. You may need to experiment with different products to see which one works best for your hair.

Ultimately, both Pureology and Kérastase offer high-quality shampoos, so your choice should be based on your hair’s specific needs and your personal preferences for product characteristics like scent, texture, and packaging.

Why use SPF 50?

SPF 50 sunscreen is chosen for its higher Sun Protection Factor (SPF) compared to lower SPFs. One primary reason for its preference is the increased protection against ultraviolet B (UVB) rays, which are responsible for sunburn and contribute to skin cancer. SPF 50 provides a heightened level of defense against these harmful rays, reducing the risk of sunburn.

How to patch test using your Rosalique samples

We often get asked what the purpose of the samples is and how best to use them. In this blog, we answer those questions and give you some quick tips to make the most out of your samples!

What is a patch test and why patch test?

A patch test is a simple way of checking whether your skin will react to a product. This is highly recommended for everyone but especially for those with sensitive skin and rosacea. Although Rosalique was developed with even the most sensitive of skins in mind, we encourage our customers to patch test before starting to use the product.

How do you patch test?

We recommend doing a patch test behind the ear. Start by cleaning the area to ensure no other products are on the skin. Next apply a small amount of Rosalique to the area and leave this to sit for 24 hours. If there’s no visible reaction, you don’t feel any discomfort and there are no other signs of irritation, the product is probably safe for you to use.

How much product should be used in a patch test?

We recommend using a small pea sized amount of Rosalique. Our sachets contain quite a bit more than that, so here’s a little tip: decant your sample into a small (and sanitised) pot, so you can get more uses out of it without it oxidising.

How long is a patch test?

Some people react to substances they’re sensitive to almost immediately, but others can take days or even weeks. For most people, patch testing for 24 hours will be enough to tell, but if you know that your skin often responds to products with a delay, feel free to repeat the 24 hour test until you feel confident that the product won’t cause irritation.

Are there any other benefits from trying a sample?

Yes, you can use our samples to do a colour match. They are also good if you want to try the use and feel of the product before buying. Please note that unfortunately, the samples are not a good way to test the long-term efficacy of the product. Although customers have told us their samples last over a week (a little really does go a long way with Rosalique), studies indicate it can take 6-8 weeks to see an actual change in the skin.

If your patch test was successful and you want to start using your samples on your face, here are our super quick tips for starting to use Rosalique:

– Use Rosalique on a well-cleansed and moisturised face.  Using moisturiser before Rosalique is recommended, but not essential – if you choose to use it, make sure your moisturiser has been fully absorbed before applying your Rosalique.
